Sea Colony’s March Madness 24-hour Tennis Marathon Raises More Than $4,000 for Charities

The second annual March Madness 24-hour tennis marathon held on Saturday, March 3, raised more than $4,000 to benefit Special Olympics Delaware and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.
Held at the Sea Colony Tennis Center, at Kent Avenue and Westway Drive in Bethany Beach, the 24-hour tennis event attracted more than 150 tennis players, including juniors, adults and Special Olympians, from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania for a full day of tennis instruction, competition and fun on the courts.
March Madness included Cardio Tennis, doubles and singles play, high school tennis clinics and a Quick Start junior tennis tournament, as well as a two-hour clinic for Special Olympians taught by Sea Colony Junior Academy players and the organization’s coaches.
Head Pro and Junior Coordinator Alex Justiniani reported that, by the end of the event early Sunday afternoon, the event had raised more than $4,000.
“The generosity and turnout has been outstanding,” said Sea Colony Tennis Director Thomas Johnston. “I am especially proud of our junior academy members for their commitment to this event. Alex has done a great job with our juniors and has gone the extra mile in organizing one of the most worthwhile tennis fundraisers I’ve ever been associated with.”
