Last week, Sea Colony (the Sea Colony Recreational Association Board of Directors to be precise) signed a contract with Louisiana-based Weeks Marine Inc. (the project’s contractor) for the impending owner-funded beach replenishment effort at Sea Colony – “The Premier Family Beach & Tennis Resort Community.”
Preparations for the overall Bethany Beach-South Bethany project are complete, with materials staged in the area of Ashwood Street, just north of Sea Colony. The contractor plans to work northward, replenishing the beach into Bethany Beach proper, and then work south, beginning the process of replenishing the seaside resort community’s beach.
As of today, sand from the dredge ships was already piling up just north of the southern end of the Bethany Beach Boardwalk, in the general area of Hollywood Street. At this time, and weather permitting, the contractor expects work on Sea Colony’s beach to begin in November and be complete by year’s end.
