Make-A-Wish Triathlon at Sea Colony marks its 24th year

Sea Colony, Bethany Beach, Delaware – August 28,2007 – The Make-A-Wish Triathlon at Sea Colony, featuring a seaside swim-bike-run course, returns to “The Premier Family Beach & Tennis Resort Community” on Sunday, September 16, 2007.

Now entering its 24th year, the event draws hundreds of competitors and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to fulfill the wishes of scores of Mid-Atlantic children battling serious illness. Athletes will take to the sea to swim the 1.5k course along Sea Colony’s oceanfront. Emerging from the surf, competitors will then tackle a 36k bike trek through Bethany Beach and other coastal areas. The triathlon ends with a 10k run on Coastal Highway, with the Delaware Beaches surf just feet away.

Triathletes can compete in individual and team contests. Online registration for the event will soon be available at the Mid -Atlantic Chapter’s Web site – midatlantic.wish.org – and participants can sign up there for e-mail notification when the registration officially opens. Registration is $75 per athlete, plus a minimum of $300 in pledges. Teams must raise $600 in pledges. For more information, please contact Make-A-Wish’s Jon Rosa at 301-962-9474.

A seaside picnic and awards ceremony wraps up with a post-picnic and awards ceremony just feet from the beach.

Professionally managed by ResortQuest Delaware, Sea Colony features a wide variety of amenities including a half mile of private beach, 12 pools (two indoor), fitness centers, year-round security, WiFi and in-season children’s programs. Sea Colony vacation rental accommodations, available through ResortQuest, range from oceanfront condos to secluded single families homes and start at $106 per night, with some properties offering discounts or weekend stays as short as two nights.
