Sea Colony Tennis Duo wins state title

Marshall wins 10th state crown; Ferriera notches first

Bethany Beach, Delaware – Sea Colony – July 6, 2007 – Sea Colony’s Ellis Ferriera and Dr. Dave Marshall recently won the Delaware State Men’s Open Doubles Championship, held at Wilmington Country Club in June. 

The Ferriera-Marshall team won the title, emerging atop the 16-team field without dropping a set. 

In the finals, the Sea Colony tennis duo defeated the team of Brent Morrow, an NCAA Division 1 All-American at The University of North Carolina, and Adam Short, another North Carolina tennis player, 6-3, 6-3.

For Marshall, this doubles crown was his 10th open state title, in addition to last year’s United States Tennis Association National Team Title. For Ferriera, a former World No. 1 player and winner of 18 world-wide championships, this was his first First State title.
